Required Minimum Distribution Calculator
Estimate the distribution required from one retirement account using its prior December 31 balance and the applicable IRS life-expectancy table. Compare the annual amount with withdrawals already taken. Owner traditional and Roth IRAs are handled separately; inherited-account calculations require your custodian’s confirmed distribution method and current-year factor.

How the estimate works
Divide the prior year-end balance by the IRS divisor, then subtract qualifying withdrawals already taken. Table III applies to most owners; Table II applies to a sole-beneficiary spouse more than ten years younger. Inherited factors are supplied by the custodian because beneficiary and death-year rules differ.
Worked example
At age 75, $246,000 divided by 24.6 gives a $10,000 full-year owner RMD before withdrawals.

Questions and answers
Can I use this for an inherited IRA?
Yes, with the distribution method and current-year divisor confirmed by your custodian. The calculator does not determine eligible-designated-beneficiary status.
Does an owner Roth IRA need an RMD?
No lifetime owner RMD is modeled. Inherited Roth IRAs have different rules.
