2026 Medicare IRMAA and Premium Calculator

Estimate one person’s 2026 Medicare Part B premium and Part D income-related adjustment from 2024 modified adjusted gross income. The result separates the base premium, income surcharges and your Part D plan cost. Use the filing status from the lookback return; your actual Social Security determination remains authoritative.

How the estimate works

Match lookback-year MAGI to the 2026 CMS filing-status bracket. Add the bracket’s Part B total, Part D income-related adjustment and the entered Part D plan premium. Annual premiums equal twelve monthly payments.

Worked example

A single filer at $100,000 MAGI has a $202.90 Part B premium and no Part D IRMAA. With a $35 Part D plan, the estimate is $237.90 monthly or $2,854.80 annually.

Questions and answers

Why does the tool ask for 2024 income?

The standard 2026 determination uses a two-year tax-return lookback. SSA can use other information in certain circumstances.

Can retirement lower my IRMAA?

A qualifying life-changing event can support an SSA reconsideration request. This tool estimates premiums and does not decide appeals.
