Calculation breakdown
How to use this tool
- Choose whether the entered price includes VAT.
- Confirm the supply's tax treatment.
- Enter the amount or supported invoice lines and review the breakdown.
How the result is calculated
For a standard 5% supply, VAT is 5% of the net price. To extract it from a VAT-inclusive total, multiply that total by 5 divided by 105.
Worked example
AED100 before VAT becomes AED105. From an inclusive AED105, the VAT component is AED5 and the net amount is AED100.
What this result does not cover
The calculator does not determine tax classification, registration duties or input-tax-credit eligibility. VAT and corporate tax are different taxes.
Questions people ask
Is VAT 5% of the inclusive total?
No. Use the inclusive fraction to avoid overstating it.
Are exempt and zero-rated supplies identical?
No. Their treatment differs even when no VAT is charged to the customer.
Does the calculation create a tax invoice?
No. Required invoice particulars must be handled separately.
Supported scope and official sources
Standard 5% VAT arithmetic with distinct zero-rated and exempt categories. Explicit line or category-total rounding to fils. Classification must be confirmed by you; not a compliant invoice, input-tax-credit or registration decision.
