Roth IRA Eligibility and Contribution Calculator
Check direct Roth IRA contribution room for 2026 using your filing status, modified adjusted gross income, eligible compensation and age. The estimate applies the income phase-out and combined traditional/Roth IRA cap, then subtracts contributions already made. It also flags a possible excess contribution for follow-up with your IRA provider.

How the estimate works
Apply the 2026 annual IRA limit and age-50 catch-up, phase out direct Roth contributions over the applicable income range, round a partial limit up to the next $10 with the IRS $200 floor, and cap by compensation and combined IRA contributions.
Worked example
A 40-year-old single filer with $100,000 MAGI and sufficient compensation can contribute up to $7,500 across IRAs. With $1,000 already in Roth and no traditional contribution, $6,500 remains.

Questions and answers
Is this a backdoor Roth calculator?
No. Conversions, pro-rata tax, IRA deductibility and excess-contribution correction methods are outside this estimate.
Do traditional contributions reduce Roth room?
Yes. Traditional and Roth IRA contributions share an annual limit; the calculator accounts for both.
