How the 2026 EITC estimate works

The estimator uses the earned-income amounts, maximum credits, phaseout thresholds and $12,200 investment-income limit published in IRS Revenue Procedure 2025-32. It uses the larger of earned income or AGI for the phaseout and supports zero through three-or-more qualifying children.

The IRS credit table rounds by income ranges, so a filed-return amount can differ slightly from this continuous statutory-curve estimate. Special military, clergy, disability, combat-pay and qualifying-child tie-breaker rules are outside scope.
