Net Worth Calculator

Add what you own, subtract what you owe, and see how your financial position changes over time.

Your balances are calculated in this browser. They are not sent to our server, analytics, advertising or session-replay systems. Saving is optional and keeps dated totals on this device only.

Your balance sheet

Assets and debts

Assets ($)

Use current values and your ownership share. Enter home and vehicle values before subtracting their loans. Keep categories separate: exclude retirement accounts from investments, and do not count business assets again if included in your ownership valuation.

Liabilities ($)

Enter outstanding balances, not monthly payments. Include mortgages on other property and personally owed business debts where appropriate, without subtracting the same debt twice.

Enter the part of your investments you could readily sell. This is a subset of investments, not an additional asset. Liquid assets here are cash + savings + this amount. Exclude restricted savings from the Savings category; place them under Investments without including them in the liquid portion.

Track changes on this device

Save only when you want a snapshot. Stored dates and aggregate totals are sensitive financial information: anyone with access to this browser profile may be able to read them. History is not encrypted, synced or backed up. Clearing browser data removes it.

Calculate before saving. Each date holds one snapshot; saving the same date replaces its totals. Up to 120 dates are supported. Reset inputs does not delete history.

How to calculate my net worth

Net worth = total assets − total liabilities. Use balances from the same date, one currency and a consistent personal or household scope. Negative net worth means debts exceed the entered assets; it is a balance-sheet result, not a judgment.

Liquid net worth

Definitions of liquidity vary. This tool uses cash + accessible savings + liquid non-retirement investments − all liabilities. Retirement accounts, homes, other property, vehicles and business ownership are excluded from liquid assets. A negative result does not mean all debt must be repaid immediately. Adjust the liquid-investment subset to reflect actual access, and account for potential sale costs separately.

Debt-to-asset ratio

Debt-to-asset ratio = total liabilities / total assets × 100%. This is not debt-to-income ratio. Values above 100% mean liabilities exceed assets. When total assets are zero, the ratio is undefined and shown as N/A, even if debts are also zero.

Saved changes over time

Dollar change equals current saved net worth minus the previous saved net worth. Percentage change uses the previous net worth only when it is positive. It is shown as N/A for a zero or negative starting value to avoid misleading percentages. Changes can reflect saving, borrowing, valuation changes or edited inputs, so they are not investment returns.

What exactly is saved?

Only the date, total assets, total liabilities and liquid assets are stored locally after you click Save snapshot. Net worth and changes are recalculated from those totals. Individual category balances and account identifiers are not stored. We do not ask for names, account numbers or bank credentials. Loading this page does not send saved totals to the server.

What if storage is unavailable?

You can still calculate. Saving may fail in restricted or private browser modes, or when storage is full. The page reports a failure rather than claiming that a snapshot was saved. Corrupt or unsupported history must be explicitly deleted before new history is saved.
