Plan council tax payments using the annual charge from your council. Apply a confirmed discount, account for the days you are liable and see how the balance could be spread across remaining instalments.

Your details

Your scenario

England and Wales. Actual days in the council bill year (1 April–31 March). The council decides eligibility and payment dates.

Entries stay in this browser and clear on reload. Examples use illustrative confirmations; replace them with your own checked details.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter the full annual charge and bill year.
  2. Add only discounts you have confirmed or clearly label a scenario.
  3. Enter liability dates and payments already made.

How the result is calculated

The planner applies the selected discount to the charge, adjusts for the supported liability period and subtracts payments before splitting the balance.

Worked example

A £2,000 annual bill with a confirmed 25% discount becomes £1,500. Spread over ten equal instalments, that is £150 per instalment.

What this result does not cover

Your council determines eligibility, billing dates and the final bill. This version does not calculate Council Tax Reduction benefits or support Scottish and Northern Irish billing.
