Calculation breakdown
How to use this tool
- Confirm eligibility and average weekly earnings with your employer.
- Enter the expected birth week and planned leave start.
- Add employer top-ups and review the gross-pay timeline.
How the result is calculated
Statutory Maternity Pay has an initial earnings-related period and a later capped period. The planner applies the rate relevant to each supported date and keeps enhanced employer pay separate.
Worked example
With average weekly earnings of £500, 90% is £450 a week for the initial six-week period. Later payments depend on the statutory weekly cap applying at the time.
What this result does not cover
This estimate does not confirm eligibility or replace payroll. The first version excludes Maternity Allowance and shared-parental-pay transfers.
